For the first time in tournament history, the Special Guest Team wins the cup. The feeling of happiness and relief was observable in their face when they rised up the trophy from the International Swiss U16 Cup to the sky.

The highlight of today took place at twelve o'clock. The disabled-teams from FC Zürich played against Liverpool FC. A large crowd guaranteed an extraordinary atmosphere and the players played a great game.

International scouts looking for talents at the U16 Cup
Some of the spectators are not only at the tournament to enjoy high-class football. Several scouts are present to examine the young talents. International Clubs and Agents don’t spare no costs to be in the pole position in the race for new stars. There are scouts from England or Italy who came only for the occasion. In their choice the scouts set their focus on athleticism, technical skills and creativity. “Nowadays European top-clubs are looking mostly for strong players. I already saw one or two players who I imagine to convey to a club like Inter Milano or Juventus,” an Italian scout says. Such statements motivate the players additionally to present themselves from their best side to pursue their dream of becoming a professional football player.

Our patron Willi Lemke, Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary General on Sport for Development and Peace and Klaus Tschütscher, prime minister of the Principality of Liechtenstein will open the 6th International Swiss U16 Cup. The opening game starts at 14.40 under the direction of FIFA-Referee Massimo Busacca. We are well prepared and looking forward to see youth football in a class of its own. |
